Overview

The 6th African Independents Forum 2009 (3 November) focuses on the new and fast-growing local African players in Africa, including Nigeria, with assets elsewhere in the Gulf of Guinea, Northwest Africa, Maghreb-North Africa, Eastern & Southern Africa, and in frontier states.

The Conference features 20+ Speakers, and is normally attended by 180+ senior executives from Africa and around the world. The Forum is a unique opportunity to meet senior management, discuss new deals, evaluate potential, and get an inside track on the African domestic oil and gas game in which the numbers of Independents has grown substantially.

This special event on Independents is supported by several African organisations, including NAPE, and showcases exploration and development projects and potential of African oil and gas players, as well as the issues facing technical partners and investors. The Independents have spread across the Continent. Their hydrocarbon reserves and production are growing, and they will assume more importance in future, given current policies, as both competitors and partners for Independents and even Super-Majors.

The Conferences closes with a Cocktail Reception, which is also the Ice-Breaker Reception for our 16th Africa Upstream 2009.

The 16th Africa Upstream 2009 Conference follows on over 4-6th November 2009.

Lead Sponsor
for 16th Africa Oil Week 2009 is Shell.

Overview

This unique 11th Annual Scramble For Africa: Strategy Briefing (2nd November 2009), prior to our 16th Africa Upstream 2009, provides a key set of insights on the Continent s upstream oil and gas game, built on 30 years of Research on Africa s upstream future, and on which our Advisory Practice in strategy has been built.

The Strategy Briefing tracks and reviews breaking developments in African exploration and development, in oil and gas-LNG, plus offers seasoned insights and interpretations unique to Global Pacific & Partners. It maps the competition landscape and leading competitors (including: Super-Majors, Super-Independents, Worldwide Independents, Foreign State Players, Start-Ups, New Entrants, AIM Players, and African Companies: Chongololos), and their corporate strategies in play, transactions, commercial interests, partnerships, new business development, and oil and acreage-assets in emerging frontiers and Africa s gas-LNG interests, with future corporate upstream outlook.

Presentations are by Dr Duncan Clarke (Chairman & CEO, Global Pacific & Partners), the leading strategist on Africa s upstream oil and gas-LNG, and provided in an intensive and interactive forum amongst Peers. Duncan Clarke is the Author of Crude Continent: The Struggle for Africa s Oil Prize (Profile Books, London Sept, 2008), and Empires Of Oil (Profile Books, London, Sept 2007), as well as The Battle For Barrels (Profile Books, London February, 2007).

Participants benefit from access to a unique knowledge-base, intimate networking, and receive all Presentations (with 900+ Images) online via our e-Conference access, as well as meet many senior executives that will attend our 16th Africa Upstream - in advance.

The Strategy Briefing takes place under Machiavelli s Rules.

No Press: Right of Admission Reserved by Global Pacific & Partners.

Benefits of Briefing Participation:

There are several key reasons to advise delegates to attend our Strategy Briefings, as follows:

Strategy Briefings are highly intensive, with unique Presentations made on corporate and government strategy by Dr Duncan Clarke (Chairman & CEO, Global Pacific & Partners) providing 8 hrs of insights and commentary - Duncan Clarke is widely published inside the world oil and gas industry and is the author of well-known books: The Battle For Barrels (Profile Books, London, 2007) and Empires Of Oil (Profile Books, London Sept 2007), and Crude Continent: The Struggle for Africa s Oil Prize, Profile Books, London, Sept 2008).

Strategy Briefings are based on 30 years upstream in-depth knowledge and experience on corporate strategy, with special insider understanding of the world industry, national oil companies, and key issues, so offering rich insight on the upstream world.

The Strategy Briefing includes 900 unique slides/images on key themes, and Delegates get access to these Presentations online from www.petro21.com for download.

You meet Peers and Delegates prior to the Conference in an intimate setting, with lunch, networking and cocktails - so enabling better access to participants during the Conference itself.

Our Strategy Briefings are one-of-a-kind, and the only type of such regular and annual Strategy Brefings done worldwide. Over 2,500 clients have attended briefings by Duncan Clarke over the last two decades, a unique track record in the industry, and as these are done in and on Africa, Asia, Latin America, MidEast, National Oil Companies and the World Oil Future, this brings unique global perspective to each Strategy Briefing.
