Great potential and strategic focus for cross-ocean trading, oil-gas-LNG investments, commerce & Industry

Global Pacific & Partners will host the following event in Mauritius from 16-17th May 2011.

  • Indian Ocean Oil & Gas 2011: 16-17th May 2011

Our Indian Ocean Oil & Gas 2011 Conference focuses on the huge oil and gas resource potential, proven reserves, rising hydrocarbon production, presence and expansion of companies, strategies of state oil players, offerings of Licensing Agencies and Ministries, reshaped Government oil/energy policies, and rapidly expanding Exclusive Economic Zones in the offshore and vast deepwaters of 25 countries with littoral boundaries, maritime zones and Joint Development Areas, including many new frontier areas open for acreage leasing and exploration, from Africa to the Horn, across the ancient sea routes around the Arabian peninsula, including multiple Island states of upstream opportunity in the Indian Ocean, and across the Sub-Continent of India, over to the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, down towards Southeast Asia and the Indonesian archipelago, and onto Australia's prolific and oil/gas-rich Northwest Shelf. This ocean of great current and future potential is central to the world's oil sea routes, oil choke points, shipping, crude and product tankers, and strategic focus for Great Powers as well as all the countries that depend on cross-ocean trading, oil/gas-LNG investments, and derivative industry and commerce. Its significance is expected to grow in future while concerns around energy security and inter-state partnerships will be critical alongside existing and future investments from the corporate oil world in the upstream, midstream and downstream. Indian Ocean Oil & Gas 2011 showcases oil, gas and energy ventures and potential across this vast and diverse region, including the frontiers of Southern and Eastern Africa, the prospective island states offshore mainland Africa (Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros, Mauritius, Juan de Nova), the fast-emerging Horn and Red Sea, and Southern Arabian offshore around Yemen and Oman, to the critical Gulf of Hormuz, along the littoral of Iran to Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, plus Western Australia.

  • Mauritius: Venue & Global Access

Our Conference venue in Mauritius is the Five-Star Le Meridien Ile Maurice in Port Louis a few minutes to downtown Port Louis, the commercial and political capital of Mauritius.  Access to Mauritius - a critical crossroads within the Indian Ocean - is readily secured either from anywhere in the Indian Ocean and worldwide by Air Mauritius (with direct flights to 18 key global cities in Africa, India, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe and Dubai - plus nearby island states such as Seychelles, Madagascar, Reunion), or via well-known international airline carriers such as Air France, British Airways, Emirates, Air Austral, South African Airways, Malaysian Airlines, and others.

Mauritius has had a long history as a central entrepot inside and across the Indian Ocean as one of the world's fastest emerging economies. Since Plato it was considered as one of the remnants and vestiges of the Lost Continent of Lemuria, which disappeared in the mists and myths of time.

  •  Government of Mauritius
